How to send BULK EMAILS to your customers to increase your income and MAKE MORE MONEY

This article will help you learn how to successfully email your customers to keep generating repeat business. Before you read this article, please read my other article "How to build an EMAIL LIST for business contacts" by clicking on the link in the Resource Section below this article (scroll down past the ads and you'll see the link). Then come back here to read my tips on how to send bulk emails to increase your income!

Instructions

1 Set up some sort of system with whatever mail provider you use. I have folders in my address book with groups of 99 contacts in each group (my ISP only allows 99 email addresses per email). If I'm going to send out 15 emails (with 99 contacts each) I open 15 email windows and paste the text into each one as I open it. Then add the group to BCC section (see more on BCC below), put my email address in the TO section, I paste in the subject line, then click send. I do this to all 15 emails. I can send 15 emails with 99 contacts each to nearly 1500 customers in a matter of minutes.

2 As for the email itself, keep it short. I start with Hello Everyone! Then I write one or two sentences that are on the personal side like "I hope you had a great weekend! I took my dogs for a ride to the beach on Saturday and they loved it!" and then I start to talk business. I write just one or two lines about whatever Special Offer I have and I add the link to my site. My emails have no bells or whistles, no graphics... just text and a link. And it works great! Then I sign off with Thank You and below my name I put this text... "To unsubscribe send a blank email to emailaddress@mydomain.com." You can ask them to just hit reply but I prefer to have them send to a separate address that I set up so I can see at a glance that it's a request to be removed.

3 Be careful what you put in the subject line. Certain subject lines can be viewed as spam and sent directly to a recipient's spam folder. Avoid ALL CAPS or lots of exclamation points!!!!! I just usually write something like "My new special offer" and that usually works fine.

4 Promise your customers that you will never give their email address to anyone and DON'T! Treat them like gold because they ARE gold! Never, ever sell your list.

And when you send emails, always put the addresses in the BCC section (blind carbon copy section) so the customers can't see each other's email addresses. Then put your own email address in the TO section to assure delivery.

5 Never send your customers junk mail. Some of them will start to think of you as a close friend and will start sending you silly jokes and forward requests. So every now and then I put a line in my email stating that I never send jokes or forwards and ask for the same in return. That hint usually works well.

6 Be consistent! I send emails every 3 days to all my customers for my clothing business and I have been doing that for nearly 10 years. If I happen to go on vacation I always mention it in the email before my vacation. Then I have other lists for other businesses that I send out on a rotating basis and when I'm done the rotation everyone ends up getting one email per week. How many emails you send depends on the type of business you run. If you get too many people asking to be removed then you are sending too many emails. I email over 5,000 customers per week total and usually get about 3 requests per week to be removed and I normally have about 3 emails bounce back (they either blocked me or the email no longer exists). So if you send 100 emails and 20 ask to be removed that means you have lost their interest.

7 Keep your list growing! Don't just get a bunch of people on your list then stop because as emails come off your list will slowly dwindle down to nothing. You have to continue to recruit new email list members. I lose about 6 emails a week so as long as 10 new members join each week I'm happy!

8 If someone asks to be removed from your list do it right away and never take it personally... even if they are mean (and believe me, some will be mean)! Pick yourself up, dust yourself off and move on! Too many business owners stop emailing because they get scared off. Big mistake!!! Emails will always bring you orders. If your emails are not generating business and are only getting you hate mail in return then you either doing something terribly wrong or you are in the wrong business!

9 Keep in contact with your ISP. They can tell you if they've received complaints about you and who did the complaining. I've had people complain to my ISP instead of asking me to remove them so I just remove them if they complained. I also remind my ISP that every email I send has text offering a way for the recipient to opt out (your ISP can read EVERY email you send so make sure the unsubscribe text is always included). I have a note on my account that if there are any questions or issues that they are to call me before they shut down my service (which they did once in the beginning due when someone reported me and they thought I had an email virus due to unusual activity). Sending bulk emails to customers who give you permission is not wrong! Some disgruntled customers can still report you and try to get you shut down so stay in contact with your ISP and everything should go smoothly.

10 I know there are services out there that will send out emails on your behalf using your contacts. I looked into it once and I found it was too expensive for my liking... actually anything that costs more than free is usually too much for my liking! And I like to control when my emails get sent... it needs to be all in my control. In other words, no one can do it better than me! And I can easily handle my 5,000 plus contacts. Obviously if you have thousands and thousands of contacts you may need help. But chances are if you are reading this article, you are most likely in the lower range so I say do it yourself!
